We begin at 9:15am with all congregation singing. Students then depart for Sunday School. Adults will participate in a beautiful Humanistic Service commemorating Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Memorial.
Our speaker will be Edgar Krasa, who was a cook at Terezin before being deported to Aushwitz. He survived the infamous Death March by feigning death after being shot. Edgar's barracks-mate was Rafael Schaechter, a pianist and conductor for whom a book, "The Music Man of Terezin" was written. Edgar will speak about a few of the musicians he met at Terezin. He has made it his life's work to educate people about the Holocaust and to remember the musicians who perished and their music that lived on.
