Defiant Requiem Documentary

April 30, 2014 - 7:15pm - 9:15pm
KB will show Defiant Requiem, a documentary, at the Fayerweather school for members and their guests (Age appropriate for 14+yrs). This 85-minute movie tells the remarkable story of Rafael Schaechter, the Czech opera-choral conductor, who managed to sustain dignity and humanity of the transient deportees under the most brutal of circumstances in the concentration camp.  US conductor Murry Sidlin chronicles 60 years later this example of the resilience of the human spirit reproducing the beautiful music.
Schaechter’s roommate, Edgar Krasa, is our speaker on May 4 and will add first-hand to this documentary with his comments.   PBS showed this documentary in February of 2013.
