We will begin at 9:15am with all congregation singing. Students then depart for Sunday School while adults engage in a Humanistic Service observing Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remberence), followed by our program - "Testimony and History--Women Prisoners' Experiences in Auschwitz-Birkenau." The speaker, Dr. Sarah Cushman, is Academic Program Liaison Officer at the Strassler Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Clark University. She earned a Ph.D. from Clark University for her dissertation, The Women of Birkenau. She is developing a secondary school Holocaust curriculum, The Letters Project, based on correspondence between parents and the children they sent to safety during the Holocaust.
