We begin our day with singing for all ages. The morning incudes school for Pre-K through 7th graders, a humanist service and program for adults, and a Klezmer concert for all.
Hankus Netsky, recently named by The Forward as one of the 50 most influential American Jews, will speak about the Klezmer revival, as well as his new book, entitled "Klezmer: Music and Community in Twentieth Century Jewish Philadelphia." Click here for more information about the book.
Netsky has performed with artists Itzhak Perlman, Robin Williams, Joel Grey, and Thedore Bikel, among many others. He founded and directs the world-renowned Klezmer Conservatory Band, and is the chair of the Contemporary Improvisation department at the New England Conservatory.
Following the discussion, we will have a jam session open to everyone, adults and children, led by Netsky and our very own Music Director, Zach Mayer.
