Sunday School and Martin Luther King Program & Service

January 17, 2016 - 9:15am - 12:00pm

Join us at 9:15am for all congregation singing. Students in pre-K through grade 7 then depart for Sunday School while adults engage in a Humanistic service and program. Today's service and program will center on Martin Luther King Day.

Our program is "Jews and Social Justice: Complicating the Narrative, Learning From the Past." “Social justice” is a buzzword in the Jewish community, but what do we really know about the rich and nuanced story of American Jewish activism? Judith Rosenbaum, Executive Director of the Jewish Women's Archive (JWA), will explore the complex relationship of Jews and the Civil Rights Movement, including the reasons and ways Jews of all ages engaged in civil rights activism, the challenges they faced, and lessons we can learn from their experiences.
