Our day includes Sunday school for children and a Martin Luther King commemorative service and post-service discussion. Becky Shuster, Kahal B’riara member and Assistant Superintendent of Equity for the Boston Public Schools will lead our program on how White Ashkenazi Jews can become more effective allies to people of Color, particularly Jews of Color and all people of African heritage. Join us to reflect on our own personal history and more recent experiences as White Jews, and people of all backgrounds. Becky will share insights on ways we can individually and collectively act to end racism in the current climate drawn from her personal journey as the mother of an African-American Jew, 25 years working in the field of civil rights and equity, and leadership of similar programs in a variety of Jewish settings, most recently at the North American Biennial conference of the Union of Reform Judaism. All are welcome: White Jews, Jews of Color, White Gentiles, and Gentiles of Color.
