General Guidelines for "Kosher for Passover" foodstuffs

The items below are considered Chametz (not "kosher" for Passover). For our purposes, KB should avoid serving foods that contain any of the items listed below at the seder.

The five species of grain (wheat, oats, rye, barley, spelt) are chametz. In addition to avoiding chametz, many Ashkenazi Jews also refrain from contact with kitniyos, which includes rice, corn, millet, mustard, peas, beans and lecithin. (Ashkenazi Jews are those from Eastern Europe; Sephardic Jews are from Spain and the Middle East.)

For those folks who wish to bring a dessert, please note that Manischewitz and Streit's have a large variety of mixes available at supermarkets for favorites like brownies, chocolate cake, and other items that would be fine for the seder. Each mix comes with a baking pan and serves about 6 people.
