Our Dues Structure
All are welcome to be members of Kahal B'raira! We celebrate Jewish history and culture, learn new things about ourselves and the world, build lasting friendships, and promote a caring network of support.
Sustaining Pledge Model
One of KB’s key values is inclusivity; we aspire to be a welcoming congregation for all who would like to join us. In support of this value, KB has moved to a flexible, inclusive, Sustaining Pledge model for Membership. In this funding model, there is no set membership fee. Instead, each member (individual or family) decides how much to pay for their KB membership.
As a guide to members wondering how much to pay, we have calculated a Suggested Pledge amount that takes into consideration prior membership dues amounts, annual fundraising needs, and anticipated expenses during the year. Those Members who can not pay this amount are welcome to pledge amounts that work for them. Members who can afford more than the suggested pledge are encouraged to pledge an additional amount.
Our hope and expectation is that the generosity of those who can pledge amounts higher than recommended will help us fulfill both our membership and fundraising goals at the same time.
- For household members, the suggested Sustaining Pledge is $2,130
- For individual members, the suggested Sustaining Pledge is $1,255
For those who can make an additional donation, here are some reference points for the reach of your support:
- $1,415 covers the cost of renting the Fayerweather space for one Sunday Community Gathering
- $1,013 provides a full scholarship to one Sunday School student
- $600 covers the cost of one youth member to attend Teen Retreat
- $150 covers childcare for one Sunday Community Gathering for children too young for Sunday School
- $100 covers the cost of hamantaschen for the Purim festival
Sunday School fees will continue to be a set amount per student, with a discount for multiple children enrolled, and we will continue to offer waivers for those families who need them.
